Bishops Park runs along the river from Putney Bridge towards Craven Cottage, with an ornamental lake, a riverside walk, playgrounds for under eights and over eights, a splash pad between the lake and the skate bowl, a café and toilets.
Next door, Fulham Palace is free to visit. Its walled garden paths are level with thin gravel, there is a step free route the palace marks for buggies, and baby changing in the east courtyard and the chapel corridor. Thin gravel is exactly what grinds into wheel bearings.
South Park, off Peterborough Road, has a younger children’s play area, a wildlife pond, and toilets in the pavilion. Hurlingham Park, off Broomhouse Lane, was once the Hurlingham Club polo ground and now has separate play areas for under eights and over eights.
Three minutes from Fulham Broadway on New King’s Road, with a play area and a Tiny Forest. Handy for a short loop, and a reliable source of grass on the footmuff.
Fulham Broadway is step free, with the entrance through the shopping centre. Imperial Wharf on the Overground has a lift. Parsons Green and Putney Bridge have no step free access, so from Parsons Green the nearest lift is Fulham Broadway, about eight minutes away on foot. West Brompton has lifts to the Overground and the eastbound District line only.
Fulham Library at 598 Fulham Road has a lift from the pavement and baby changing. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with the area’s main maternity unit, is on Fulham Road at the Chelsea end.
